About Maui Tourism
Maui Tourism is high not only during specific months of the year, due to Maui’s warm climate all year round.During holidays, especially over a long weekend, many tourists are using the opportunity to visit this beautiful Hawaiian island. Most of the inter-island flights are booked, and the same apply for car rentals . It is a wise idea to make reservation as early as possible.
In Maui there are basically two seasons. The high season, starting mid December and ending mid April, and low season, the rest of the months. While you don’t have to expect huge savings if you plan to go during low season, it will be definitely be less expensive, maybe 20% less, and, most important, less crowded.
Another thing to consider when thinking at Maui tourism is whale-watching season that begins in January and continues through the rest of winter, sometimes lasting into May. You can even find a waterfront condo or hotel, on Maui’s shore to watch them from your room!
Of course, your best bet is to come off-season, after mid April. This is the time I went and it was great. The weather was perfect, and you can actually choose it, by going in different areas of Maui! For the best rates you should probably schedule your visit either mid April to June or before holidays, September to beginning of December.
Tips: - If you are collecting Air Miles, better call them to see if it is not a good possibility to get one or more plain tickets using your collected airmiles. I actually paid for my car rental in Maui with airmiles and saved over $500
- Book early if you are planning to visit Maui in the last week of April. Lots of Japanese tourists will be here in that week, because they have three Japanese holidays!
- Consult a travel agent to book; you will have better chance to get a good rate, at least for hotels. Airfares might be also a bit lower and sometimes a travel agent might be able to find you good packages, with special deals (versus booking yourself)
Of course, it is already known, and also beneficial for Maui tourism that the island is a world-class resort destination. Come and discover the magic that has lured travelers from around the globe to this beautiful island!
